Jinju City, Gyeongnam, was selected for the "2024 Industrial Complex Exhibition Support Project with Culture," hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Arts Management Support Center. From June 1 to September 30, exhibitions are being held at the Sangpyeong Industrial Complex Innovation Support Center and the Multipurpose Cultural Center.
This "2024 Industrial Complex Exhibition Support Project with Culture" is a project funded with 100 million KRW from the national budget to provide workers and local residents with opportunities to enjoy culture by supporting outstanding exhibitions in industrial complex cultural spaces. This year, the Jinju Sangpyeong Industrial Complex Innovation Support Center and the Changwon Dongnam Art Center were selected.
The ongoing exhibition at Jinju Sangpyeong Industrial Complex, "Sangpyeong Sinkyung: Memory and Sensation," was designed to allow visitors to experience art in a new space where industrial and cultural elements centered around the Jinju Sangpyeong Industrial Complex are fused together.
The exhibition features three themes: "Reinterpretation and Fusion of Tradition," "The Present Connecting Past and Future," and "Me, You, and Us." Participating artists include Kim Hyekyung, Seo Dongju, Seo Sunghyup, Lee Eunsook and Heo Ina, Cha Minyoung, Heo Bori, and Hwang Kyubaek. A total of 16 works are on display, including four installation art pieces, four media art works, five drawings, and three video installations.
In addition, related events are being held, including one performance, two artist projection mapping workshops, and eleven exhibition commentary programs. The first exhibition commentary program and performance took place at the opening ceremony of the Jinju Startup Support Center on the 12th, and related events will continue until the end of September.
The "Sangpyeong Sinkyung: Memory and Sensation" exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The artist projection mapping workshops, which are part of the related events, will be held at 2 p.m. on the 20th and 21st, once each day.
The exhibition commentary program, where visitors can listen to explanations from a professional docent, will be held on the 31st at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., and on September 11 and 25 at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day.
