Night Streets Brightened in Seongdong-gu Haengdang and Eungbong-dong... Replacement of Old Security Lights Completed
203 Old Security Lights in Haengdang-dong, Eungbong-dong, and Other Areas Replaced with High-Efficiency Eco-Friendly LED Lighting
Improved Complaint Handling Process through Rapid Identification of Security Light Locations by Maintaining Old Nameplates
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) has completed the replacement of security lights in residential areas to create a bright and safe nighttime passage environment.
This project, which began in May of this year, targeted Haengdang-dong, Eungbong-dong, and Seongsu 2-ga-dong, where multi-family housing is densely located, replacing a total of 203 old security lights with light-emitting diode (LED) security lights.
LED security lights have high illuminance, making it easy to identify objects and thus have a significant crime prevention effect. They also have the advantage of causing less light pollution due to minimal light diffusion.
Additionally, compared to existing security lights (sodium lamps), they are more energy-efficient, making them economically superior.
Along with this, 2,500 security lights in Geumho 4-ga-dong, Seongsu 2-ga-dong, Yongdap-dong, and Songjeong-dong had their old nameplates replaced with more easily recognizable ones. Each security light was assigned an intuitive number, allowing for more accurate and faster identification of the light’s location, which is expected to greatly improve the complaint handling process.
