View original imageOn the morning of the 15th, Daejeon City held the 79th Liberation Day celebration at the City Hall Grand Auditorium, attended by over 600 people, including bereaved families of independence patriots, heads of major institutions and organizations, and citizens.
The ceremony proceeded in the following order: a commemorative address by Yang Junyoung, head of the Daejeon branch of the Liberation Association, commendations and a congratulatory speech by Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo, a celebratory performance, singing of the Liberation Day song, and three cheers for independence.
During the ceremony, Yuk Uigyoon from the Dong-gu branch, Park Suyeon from the Seo-gu branch, and Lee Changhee from the Yuseong Daedeok United branch of the Daejeon branch of the Liberation Association were selected as citizens of merit for their love of country movement and received commendations from the mayor of Daejeon.
In his congratulatory speech, Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo emphasized, "Thanks to the dedication and sacrifice of our patriotic forebears, our nation has risen from ruins to become a country recognized by all as an advanced nation," and added, "With our pioneering spirit and DNA of innovation, let us once again achieve miraculous development in Daejeon and the Republic of Korea."
