Daejeon City Forms Task Force for Second Culture and Arts Complex Project
Five Classes with 23 Students... Feasibility Study to Be Requested in October
Daejeon City announced that it will form a dedicated task force and begin various administrative procedures to expedite the development of the 2nd Cultural and Arts Complex.
The task force consists of 23 members across five teams and is composed of administrative, technical, and academic research personnel in each field to strengthen expertise at every stage from planning to opening and operation.
The task force will divide responsibilities such as carrying out administrative procedures, facility construction, and conceptualizing direction and content for each field. It also plans to regularly share project details and progress to establish the technical and logical foundation for the complex.
To construct the 2nd Cultural and Arts Complex as a landmark architectural structure, Daejeon City held an international design competition in May and selected outstanding entries.
The city is currently working with The System Lab Architects, which was selected for the master plan, to finalize the project budget through calculation and verification processes and is establishing a detailed business plan.
In October, as originally planned, the city will begin full-scale administrative procedures, such as requesting a feasibility study under the Local Finance Act, and will focus its administrative resources to ensure smooth progress.
Noh Kisoo, Director of Culture, Arts and Tourism at Daejeon City, stated, "To ensure that the 2nd Cultural and Arts Complex meets citizens' cultural needs as a nature-friendly cultural landmark in the city center, we will gather diverse opinions from experts and citizens and promptly carry out the necessary administrative procedures."
Meanwhile, the 2nd Cultural and Arts Complex, which will serve as a new landmark for Daejeon and help resolve cultural imbalances between the east and west regions, will be built in Jungchon Neighborhood Park in Jung-gu. It will include a dedicated music performance hall and a second municipal art museum.
