Video Conference of Commercial Attaches from Major Countries Held
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Deputy Minister for Trade Yang Byeong-nae will hold a video conference with commercial attach?s from major countries at the Government Seoul Office on the 14th to respond to the U.S. presidential election.
The meeting will discuss local trends in the U.S. related to the presidential election, responses from major countries, and key trade issues. Commercial attach?s from 10 countries including the United States, Japan, China, the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Canada, and Mexico will attend this meeting.
Deputy Minister Yang said, "With less than three months remaining until the U.S. presidential election and high uncertainty, it is a time to closely monitor trends in major countries and concentrate all government capabilities to respond closely." He added, "I ask the commercial attach?s to gather information on the host countries’ government and industry responses, opportunity and risk factors by scenario, and promptly report to the government."
At this meeting, Commercial Attach? Kim Seong-yeol from the Embassy of Korea in the U.S. shared local trends related to the U.S. presidential election, followed by an exchange of opinions among commercial attach?s from major countries focusing on the response status by host country and key trade issues. In particular, they focused on discussing prospects for changes in trade policies of major countries due to the U.S. presidential election, the impact on the Korean economy, and countermeasures.

Deputy Minister Yang stated, "Going forward, the government will proactively respond to global trade risks through global trade strategy meetings involving the private sector, government, and academia." He added, "We will minimize uncertainties in the trade sector related to the U.S. presidential election and provide full government support so that Korean companies can conduct business stably."
