4.4 Earthquake Occurs Near Los Angeles, USA... "Strong Shaking Felt"
At around 12:20 PM on the 12th (local time), a magnitude 4.4 earthquake occurred near Los Angeles (LA), California, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake took place near Highland Park, approximately 10.5 km northeast of LA City Hall. The focal depth was 12.1 km.
AP News reported that the earthquake was strongly felt throughout LA, with residents saying buildings shook and dishes rattled.
No damage from the earthquake has been reported. The National Weather Service stated that no tsunami is expected.
The USGS initially estimated the earthquake's magnitude at 4.6 but later revised it down to 4.4.

Earlier, on the 6th, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred in central California. This earthquake took place 140.6 km north-northwest of LA and 94.7 km northeast of Santa Barbara. As a result, shaking was felt throughout southern California, including LA.
