The human pregnancy period is generally 40 weeks, and a 36-week fetus is known to be capable of independent life outside the womb.
One netizen raised their voice, saying, "My daughter was also born at 36 weeks, and this is murder." Another member pointed out, "I wish this was fabricated because it's easier to accept, but since it's real, both the person who had the abortion and the hospital that performed the surgery must be crazy. If a perfectly healthy fetus at 36 weeks was aborted, not only the mother but also the hospital should be punished."
Criticism also arose regarding the mother posting the 'abortion vlog.' There is suspicion that the abortion video was used for profit. One member sighed, saying, "Even if abortion was unavoidable, broadcasting it on YouTube is another matter. If there was no plan to have the baby, then why did she carry the pregnancy to full term?"
At the end of June, YouTuber A posted a video titled "Total surgery cost 9 million won, 120 hours like hell," claiming to have undergone a pregnancy termination surgery at 36 weeks. In the video, A said that although her menstruation had stopped, she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and did not think she was pregnant, ultimately having an abortion at 36 weeks.
On the 12th, the police identified the YouTuber who posted the story of aborting a 36-week fetus and the hospital director where the abortion surgery was performed, and booked them on charges of murder. A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official stated at a regular press briefing, "The YouTuber who posted the video and the hospital director who performed the surgery have been identified and booked as suspects."
The YouTuber is a woman in her 20s living in a provincial area, and the hospital is located in the metropolitan area. The YouTuber has already undergone two police investigations and admitted to the abortion. It is known that she stated she found the hospital for the surgery through an acquaintance. The police plan to investigate the acquaintance as well.
