Seongchon Park is a green area created as a resting place for residents on a large traffic island (8,800㎡) at the northern end of Wonhyo Bridge, and it is a frequently used spot by residents of Ichon 2-dong. Most of the facilities, including the walking paths, were aging and in need of repair.
The district invested 210 million KRW to complete the construction at the end of last month. A district official stated, “Before proceeding with the project, we gathered opinions from park users and separated the barefoot walking path from the general walking trail to ensure that residents using the loess path and those using the regular walking path do not cross paths.”
The main renovation features include the creation of a 50-meter circular barefoot loess path, refurbishment of 800 meters of aging walking trails, installation of two heated and cooled benches, and planting of Rhododendron species. To enhance convenience in line with health trends, shoe lockers and bag hangers were installed along the loess path. Visitors can wash their feet cleanly at the state-of-the-art foot washing station equipped with high-pressure cleaning and dust removal functions.
Additionally, to ensure residents can use the park safely, LED park lights and emergency bells in restrooms have been installed, and CCTV cameras for crime prevention are scheduled to be installed within the year.
