Asan City Wins Excellence Award in Local Government Job Announcement System Category
2023 Employment Rate Reaches 70.4%, Youth Employment Rate Achieves 44.2%
Asan City in Chungnam Province won the Excellence Award in the Regional Job Target Public Announcement category at the 2024 National Local Government Job Awards hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
View original imageOn the 8th, Asan City in South Chungcheong Province announced that it had won the Excellence Award in the Regional Job Target Disclosure System category at the 2024 National Local Government Job Awards hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Asan City received high praise for implementing various support policies that resonate with young people, such as alleviating commuting inconveniences and maintaining employment for workers living in towns and villages through the commuter bus support project, operating the youth employment study group 'Sparta', the youth lounge 'Nawayu', and supporting the Youth Tomorrow Card.
In the labor sector, the city also implemented policies such as operating a joint labor welfare fund to help narrow the wage gap for workers at small and medium-sized enterprises, and supporting the improvement of rest areas for vulnerable workers.
Despite a challenging employment environment, Asan City promoted various initiatives to create jobs, achieving an employment rate of 70.4% in 2023, a 2.1 percentage point increase from the previous year, and a youth employment rate of 44.2%, a 3.3 percentage point rise from the previous year.
Jo Ilgyo, Deputy Mayor of Asan City, said, "Despite various difficulties such as economic downturn and employment instability, we have achieved the remarkable result of winning the Minister of Employment and Labor Award. Based on last year's achievements, we will do our best this year to further strengthen city administration and create job policies that excite all citizens of Asan."
