"Please Voluntarily Report Fraudulent Scholarship Claims"... Korea Student Aid Foundation Launches Month-Long Campaign
"Status Protection and No Disadvantages"
The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byungil) announced on the 6th that it will operate a 2024 Voluntary Scholarship Misappropriation Reporting Campaign under the theme "Clean Scholarships, Fair Opportunities, Now" to eradicate fraudulent scholarship claims and enhance the soundness of public finances.
This campaign was launched to raise awareness and responsibility regarding fraudulent claims, ensuring that scholarships are distributed fairly to students facing financial difficulties in their studies.
Voluntary reporting is available from the 7th to September 13th through the Korea Student Aid Foundation website, and the target of the report is any recipient of the foundation's scholarships who has received funds fraudulently.
If a fraudulent recipient voluntarily reports and returns all illicit gains before prior notification of disposition, the penalty surcharge (up to five times the original scholarship amount) will be waived. When making a voluntary report, the whistleblower should provide their personal information, details of the report, and evidence related to the fraudulent act.
The Korea Student Aid Foundation protects whistleblowers from any disadvantages by thoroughly guaranteeing confidentiality from the reporting stage onward.
Bae Byungil, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, stated, "The voluntary reporting campaign for fraudulent scholarship claims is an important effort to use taxpayers' money properly and fairly," adding, "We expect it to play a significant role in preventing fraudulent claims against public finances."
