In response, since last year, the city has focused all administrative efforts on ensuring that any citizen can use park golf courses without discrimination. Last month, the necessary legal foundation was established, including the enactment of related ordinances, and park golf courses have been reborn as citizen-centered public sports facilities.
On July 5, a consignment agreement was signed with the Changwon Facilities Corporation, enabling the normal operation of the Daesan-myeon and Buk-myeon Disabled Park Golf Courses. The city is making every effort for systematic management, including assigning professional staff, implementing disaster (heatwave) response measures, and improving facility shortcomings.
At the same time, in the second half of the year, the city will carry out the second phase of facility improvements at the Daesan-myeon Park Golf Course, which will include adding 18 holes, installing one mobile restroom, reinforcing safety fences, and adding other convenience facilities.
In particular, the city plans to accelerate the 'development of 500 park golf holes by 2026' in response to the rapid increase in the senior sports population and the explosive demand for park golf.
The Hogye Park Golf Course (503 Hogye-ri, Naeseo-eup), which was recently closed due to illegal operation controversies, will be reopened to citizens by October if the revision of the Changwon Urban Management Plan is decided this month, and the necessary administrative procedures, such as obtaining permission to use national land, are completed.
Park Dongjin, Director of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau, said, "Park golf courses should be accessible to everyone without discrimination to help maintain the health of the elderly population and improve the quality of life for citizens," adding, "We will do our utmost to complete the development of 500 park golf holes by 2026 and make Changwon Special City a leading city for park golf."
