Saemaul Overseas Model Village Project... Request for Cooperation from Bac Ninh Province
A delegation from Gumi City, led by Mayor Kim Jangho, will visit Bac Ninh, an international sister city in Vietnam, from the 6th to the 9th for four days to strengthen exchange and cooperation with Bac Ninh.
This visit is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Bac Ninh's independence and to discuss ways to expand exchanges between the two cities, aiming to further solidify their friendly and cooperative relationship.
On the 6th, the delegation will meet with the Mayor of Bac Ninh and related officials to discuss strengthening economic cooperation, promoting international events, expanding cultural and artistic exchanges, and global talent exchange initiatives.
On the 7th, to ensure smooth progress of Gumi City's Saemaul Overseas Pilot Village Project, an Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiative, the delegation will inspect the project site, Hoa Dinh Village in Vo Cuong Ward, together with officials from the Bac Ninh provincial government.
They will then visit Bac Ninh Industrial College, the largest vocational college in Bac Ninh, and hold a meeting with the college president to discuss attracting foreign talent as a measure to address local population decline.
Afterwards, they will attend an international exchange agreement ceremony between Bac Ninh Industrial College and Kumoh Technical High School (Meister High School), and encourage students from both countries participating in the international exchange program.
On the same afternoon, the delegation will attend the largest commemorative event in Bac Ninh, the "Bac Ninh 70th Independence Anniversary Ceremony," and celebrate the occasion with over 1,000 attendees, including Vietnamese national leaders, Bac Ninh city officials, and representatives from Bac Ninh's international sister cities.
On the 8th, the delegation will visit local businesses and hold a meeting with Vietnamese government officials and Korean business representatives in the area. During this meeting, they will listen to the difficulties faced by businesses and request cooperation from relevant government agencies to ensure that Gumi companies can conduct business smoothly in Vietnam.
Bac Ninh, the capital of Bac Ninh Province, is a city with an area of 82.6 square kilometers and a population of 280,000. As a center for electronics and high-tech industries in Vietnam, it has 16 industrial complexes. Of the 44 Gumi-based companies operating in Vietnam, 19 have established corporations in Bac Ninh.
Since signing a sister city agreement with Bac Ninh on October 19, 2022, Gumi City has expanded cooperation and exchanges between the two cities through various initiatives, including hosting a Korea-Vietnam economic exchange meeting to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, selecting Hoa Dinh Village in Vo Cuong Ward, Bac Ninh for the Gumi Saemaul Overseas Pilot Village Project, and holding joint cultural performances.
