Dyson Launches Professional 'Supersonic r Hair Dryer' in Korea
30% Smaller and 20% Lighter Than Existing Products
Enhanced Convenience with New 'r' Shape
Dyson Korea announced on the 5th that it has launched the 'Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer' for hair professionals in the domestic market.
The Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer is 30% smaller and 20% lighter compared to the existing Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. It features a new streamlined VT3 heater, and the styling nozzles provided with the product are equipped with RFID chips that automatically adjust the optimal temperature and airflow speed to maximize styling effects. Additionally, it remembers and applies the settings frequently used by the user during styling.
To address the chronic wrist pain experienced by hair professionals and provide a styling experience tailored to their working environment, the form factor of the existing Dyson Supersonic hair dryer was completely redesigned, and new heater technology was applied. Ten heater foils were arranged along the device's curves to improve airflow, and a small, lightweight VT3 heater with high power density was developed to maintain more uniform airflow and temperature. The 'r' curved shape offers comfortable drying and styling even in areas that are generally difficult to style or reach by hand.
The Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer features a sophisticated 3-level airflow speed setting and a 4-level temperature setting including a cold shot, with control buttons ergonomically placed within thumb reach. The redesigned filter protects the motor to ensure optimal device performance, and the 3.2-meter extended cord allows for free use even in hair salons.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the domestic launch of the Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer, Dyson Korea held a launch event for hair stylists at the Dyson Sounds Hannam demo store on the same day. Kim Sun-woo, the head of Woosun Hair & Makeup Salon and Dyson’s beauty ambassador, attended the event and demonstrated various hair styling techniques.

The Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer will be available for sale to hair professionals on the Dyson official website starting from that day. The recommended retail price is 629,000 KRW.
