Eradication of Violent Crimes and Crimes Affecting Public Safety and Livelihood
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim Inchang) announced on the 2nd that it will conduct an intensive crackdown for two months until the 30th of next month to eradicate various violent crimes and livelihood infringement crimes occurring at sea.
During this crackdown period, the agency plans to focus on violent crimes directly related to public safety, theft involving seafood and ships, human rights violations against maritime workers, advance payment fraud exploiting the shortage of seafarers, and illegal fishing, aiming to secure maritime safety along the southwestern coast.
In particular, a dedicated investigation team including investigation, criminal, and criminal mobile patrol personnel will be formed at five affiliated Coast Guard stations such as Mokpo and Yeosu, and a three-dimensional crackdown will be carried out based on plans tailored to the characteristics of each region within their jurisdiction.

A West Sea Coast Guard official stated, “We plan to strongly crack down on violent crimes and livelihood infringement crimes that cause harm to the public,” and added, “If you have been a victim or witnessed a crime, please report it to the nearest Coast Guard station.”
