Worried About Where to Leave Your Child? Gumi City Solves It with '365 Dolbom Daycare'
365 Care Daycare Center No. 4 'Seonju Municipal Daycare Center' Opens
Total of 52 Part-Time Childcare Centers, Highest Number in the Province
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province will operate the 365 Day Childcare Center at the Seonsan-eup Municipal Seonju Daycare Center starting in August, aiming to create a seamless childcare environment throughout the year.
With this new operation, Gumi City's 365 Day Childcare Centers will expand to a total of four locations, including Municipal Geumo Daycare Center (Hyeonggok-dong), Municipal Yehyang Daycare Center (Gupyeong-dong), and Municipal Cheonsaeng Daycare Center (Gupo-dong). This expansion is expected to enhance accessibility for parents and children in rural and township areas and minimize childcare gaps during busy farming seasons.
The 365 Day Childcare Center provides hourly childcare services 365 days a year, offering care on weekday evenings (6:00 PM to midnight) and on weekends and public holidays (9:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
This emergency gap-filling childcare service allows parents to leave their children with peace of mind during unexpected overtime, business trips, hospital visits, and other urgent situations, reducing the burden of parenting and supporting social and economic activities.
The service is available for infants and young children over six months old who are not yet in school. Reservations can be made up to a day in advance, and same-day use is possible in urgent cases. The service is free of charge, and parents simply need to make a reservation and bring the necessary items.
Working parents currently using the 365 Day Childcare Center shared their satisfaction, saying, "The most challenging times while juggling work and parenting were unexpected overtime or weekend shifts, but being able to use the 365 Day Childcare Center has greatly eased our burden."
Additionally, starting in August, if infants receiving parental benefits or childcare allowances need to use a daycare center, 40 more part-time childcare centers will be added, bringing the total to 52 centers with 53 classes, the highest number designated in the province.
The integrated part-time childcare classes, which will be fully expanded from August, allow some of the unfilled spots in regular classes to be used for part-time care. Children can participate in activities with regular students during reserved hours. The service is available for up to 60 hours per month at an affordable rate of 2,000 KRW per hour.
Furthermore, to achieve nonstop childcare, 32 night extension daycare centers will operate, providing care after standard hours (7:30 AM to 7:30 PM) until midnight, which is expected to be a great help to parents facing emergencies.
Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "To overcome low birth rates, it is essential to establish a solid childcare support system. With a sense of social responsibility that all children are our children, we will spare no effort to make Gumi a child-friendly city where everyone participates in parenting."
