President Yoon Approves Appointment of 7 KBS Directors Recommended by Korea Communications Commission
President Yoon Suk-yeol approved the appointment of seven KBS board members recommended by the Korea Communications Commission.
According to the presidential office on the 1st, President Yoon gave his approval for the KBS board member appointments late the previous afternoon.
Earlier, the Korea Communications Commission held a plenary meeting at the Government Complex Gwacheon and resolved the recommendation of seven board members: current board member Kwon Soon-beom, former Korea Policy Broadcasting Director Ryu Hyun-soon, current chairman Seo Gi-seok, Vice President of Women’s Newspaper Lee Geon, lawyer Lee In-cheol, Vice Chairman of the Video Rating Board Heo Yeop, and former standing member of the Korea Communications Standards Commission Hwang Seong-wook.

Currently, the Korea Communications Commission operates under a "two-person system" with Chairperson Lee Jin-sook and Standing Commissioner Kim Tae-gyu.
On the previous morning, President Yoon appointed these two, fulfilling the minimum quorum of two for the commission’s resolutions. On the same day at 5 p.m., the commission held a plenary meeting and resolved the recommendation and appointment of board members for the Korea Broadcasting Culture Promotion Foundation, the major shareholder of KBS and MBC. The six board members of the Foundation were immediately appointed by the commission according to regulations.
