Ulsan Office of Education, New Seosa Middle School Project Gains Momentum... Passes Ministry of Education Central Investment Review
New School to Be Established in Ulsan Daun 2 Public Housing District
Project Cost 44.2 Billion Won, Opening in March 2028
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsoo) has announced that the proposed establishment of the tentatively named Seosa Middle School within the Ulsandaun 2 Public Housing District has passed the Ministry of Education's central investment review.
On the 30th of last month, the Ministry of Education held a Central Investment Review Committee meeting and gave final approval to the Seosa Middle School establishment project submitted by the Ulsan Office of Education.
On this day, the Central Investment Review Committee suggested that, to ensure smooth placement of students from the development district and nearby areas until the school opens, the current Taehwa and Daun school districts should be separated and the new school established. The Taehwa and Daun school districts currently include Daun Middle School, Yugok Middle School, Jeil Middle School, and Hakseong Girls' Middle School.
The Ulsan Office of Education plans to build Seosa Middle School in the Beomseo-eup area of Ulju-gun, with 33 classes (30 general classes and 3 special classes) and a total floor area of 13,009.53 square meters. Supported by approximately 25 billion KRW in new school grants from the Ministry of Education, the total project cost will be about 44.29 billion KRW, with the school scheduled to open in March 2028.
The school site will be provided free of charge by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
An official from the Ulsan Office of Education stated, "We will do our best to ensure the smooth establishment of a new middle school within the Ulsandaun 2 Public Housing District, so that students moving into the apartment complexes can receive education in a pleasant and safe environment."

The Ulsandaun 2 Public Housing District is being developed across Seosa-ri in Beomseo-eup and Daun-dong in Jung-gu, with a total of 12,456 households. Residents of the apartment complexes will move in annually from 2025 to 2030.
