"Don't worry about the bills, feel free to use fans and air conditioners as much as you want."
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is providing special 'cooling cost' support for low-income vulnerable groups who hesitate to operate cooling devices due to financial difficulties.
With the heatwave continuing this summer, the aim is to help ease the living expenses burden of low-income vulnerable groups so they can spend the summer safely.
The support targets approximately 14,500 households including basic livelihood security recipients, Seoul-type recipients, low-income single-parent families, and legally designated near-poor households residing in Dongdaemun-gu as of the reference date (July 5, 2024).
The support fund (50,000 KRW per household) will be deposited into each household's account on July 31 without a separate application. If the account is not identified or there is no bank account, recipients can visit the local community service center in their jurisdiction to receive cash.
