Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will take the lead in fundamentally reforming university entrance exam education." He emphasized that the core of university entrance exam reform is 'educational evaluation.'
On the 30th, Superintendent Lim attended the first meeting of the special task force established for 'future university entrance exam reform' and said, "The university entrance system must change for true educational innovation and the future education we aspire to be possible," promising, "We will precisely target the university entrance issues that have been missed for decades and fundamentally restore Korean education."
He continued, "The paradigm of education is changing in the era of artificial intelligence and digital transformation," and argued, "As creativity, problem-solving skills, and self-directed thinking become crucial, the system for the development of education in the Republic of Korea must also change."
In particular, he stated, "The key lies in educational evaluation?how to assess and utilize the competencies students need is important," adding, "No matter how much effort is made, if the university entrance system is not reformed, it will be an incomplete effort. To complete education, hitting the precise trigger is necessary for true creative innovation in education."
Superintendent Lim concluded by emphasizing, "Let us gather our wisdom and strength to prepare alternatives, persuade, and communicate. If we devote ourselves sincerely, the public will support us."
