Gochang-gun to Develop Myeongsasimni Marine Tourism Site... 300 Billion KRW Investment Agreement

On the 30th at 2 p.m., Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, held an investment agreement ceremony for the ‘Myeongsasipri Marine Tourism Complex Development Project’ worth approximately 300 billion KRW with four domestic companies (LIG Systems Co., Ltd., P&K INC, Youngpoong Pharmaceutical, Seoul Economic TV) at the county office’s main conference room.

About 30 people attended the ceremony, including Shim Deok-seop, Gochang County Governor; Cha Nam-jun, Vice Chairman of Gochang County Council and council members; Kim Man-gi and Kim Seong-su, members of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Council; Yoon Jong-gyu, CEO of LIG Systems Co., Ltd.; Kim Tae-gyun, CEO of P&K INC; and Kim Jae-hoon, CEO of Youngpoong Pharmaceutical.

Each company plans to invest 300 billion KRW by 2030 to develop resorts, accommodations, sports, and leisure facilities in the Myeongsasipri area of Gochang.

The county plans to complete the feasibility study by the end of this year and will actively promote the designation of the tourist site and the development plan study next year, aiming to start full-scale development in the first half of 2026.

The Myeongsasipri Beach, spanning Sangha-myeon and Haeri-myeon in Gochang-gun, is a rare 8.5 km straight coastline in South Korea.

At sunset, the red glow of the sunset, the sky-colored sea, the sand reflecting a reddish hue from the wet soil, and the silhouettes of pine trees create a romantic spectacle.

With the establishment of a large-scale marine tourism complex in Myeongsasipri, it will transform into a stay-type tourist destination rather than a pass-through tourist spot, attracting more visitors.

The county expects this to drive regional development and significantly contribute to responding to the population extinction crisis.

In particular, it is anticipated to become a key hub in the West Coast tourism belt, linked with the 2030 Saemangeum Megacity development, the opening of Noeul Bridge, and large accommodation facilities such as the Gochang Comprehensive Theme Park.

Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “This investment agreement is expected to serve as a catalyst for leading Gochang’s local economy and tourism,” adding, “We will cooperate and communicate more closely to support the successful promotion of the Myeongsasipri Marine Tourism Complex Development Project.”
