The Namsan-moru area in Sangpae-dong, Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi-do has been finally selected as a target site for next year’s ‘Urban Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project’ organized by the Presidential Committee on Local Autonomy.
The Urban Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project was introduced in 2015 to improve the basic quality of life for residents by securing a safe residential environment in urban areas with vulnerable living conditions. The main projects include housing renovation, expansion of living infrastructure, and strengthening resident capabilities.
The Namsan-moru area in Sangpae-dong (around 179 Sangpae-ro) in Dongducheon-si covers an area of 40,100㎡ and has a population of 292, encompassing Sangpae-dong 1st, 3rd, and 6th districts. It records a poor road ratio of 55.3%, an old housing ratio of 93.2%, and a basic livelihood security recipient ratio of 22.6%. The area rapidly declined after the withdrawal of the US military base.
Following this selection, the Namsan-moru area in Sangpae-dong will receive support for expanding and improving living infrastructure, renovating old houses, and human care projects over the next five years.
