NIS Detects Signs Kim Jong-un, Weighing 140kg, Seeking Different Medication Than Usual
"North Korea's Kim Ju-ae Undergoing Successor Training... Possibility of Change Not Ruled Out"
According to the National Intelligence Service (NIS), Kim Ju-ae, the second daughter of North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un, is undergoing training as a successor.
Lee Seong-gwon and Park Seon-won, the ruling and opposition party coordinators of the National Assembly Intelligence Committee, stated in a briefing that the NIS reported this issue at the full committee meeting on the 29th. The NIS said, "North Korea is implying Kim Ju-ae as a likely successor at this point and is conducting successor training. While being mindful of the residents' reactions to the young Kim Ju-ae, they are adjusting the level of propaganda and frequency of external exposure, simultaneously conducting non-public activities and providing guidance." The NIS also reported that they have identified successor training based on North Korea's titles for Kim Ju-ae and the extent of her appearances in various activities.
The NIS analyzed, "In the past, about 60% or more of Kim Ju-ae's activities were military-related, accompanying her father on schedules, and she showed very limited participation in economic activities. However, since the term 'hyangdo,' which is used only for successors or leaders, is being used, it is anticipated that a considerable degree of the successor structure is solidifying."
Ruling party coordinator Lee explained, "'Hyangdo' means 'to illuminate the path forward in the revolutionary struggle,' and since it is a term used for leaders and successors, the very use of this word indicates that Kim Ju-ae is being placed in the successor structure." However, the NIS reported, "There is still a possibility that other siblings may emerge, and the final confirmation as a successor has not been made, so the possibility of change is not entirely ruled out."
Regarding Kim Jong-un's health condition, the NIS stated, "His weight reaches 140 kg, and his body mass index (BMI) is in the mid-40s, significantly exceeding the normal standard of 25, indicating morbid obesity and placing him in a high-risk group for heart disease." They added, "It is understood that he began showing symptoms of hypertension and diabetes in his early 30s, and if his current health condition is not improved, there is a possibility of cardiovascular diseases due to family history, so he is being closely monitored."

The NIS said, "Kim Jong-un's weight was at its highest at 140 kg, and it is currently estimated to be about 140 kg. It is believed that this is due to stress, smoking, and alcohol consumption." The NIS particularly noted, "There have been signs that Kim Jong-un is seeking medications other than the existing ones," and reported, "There is speculation that some situations may be difficult to manage with the current medications alone." In this regard, Representative Lee conveyed, "It was clearly mentioned that there is a trend of looking for such treatments overseas for hypertension and diabetes-related diseases," and Representative Park added, "(Looking for other medications) is also a common practice."
