Yangsan City to Operate Summer Kkureogi Health Camp
Customized Health Camp Improves Children's Healthy Lifestyle Habits
Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, will operate the "Summer Kids Health Camp" for 30 children and adolescents from local community child centers at the Integrated Health Promotion Office of the public health center starting from July 5.
According to student health examination data, the obesity rate among children and adolescents nationwide increased by 4.3% over four years, from 14.4% in 2018 to 18.7% in 2022. In addition, there has been an increase in the consumption rates of fast food and ramen, while the intake of vegetables, fruits, and milk has decreased, indicating an unbalanced diet. The reduction in sleep time and the increase in sitting time during weekdays are also raising the risk of serious health deterioration among children and adolescents.
Camp participants will receive personalized programs tailored to their individual situations, including body composition and basic fitness measurements, professional consultations on physical activity and nutrition surveys, physical activity promotion education for obesity prevention, nutrition education for healthy weight and dietary improvement, and lifestyle habit improvement education.
A Yangsan City official stated, "Through this Summer Kids Health Camp, we will do our best to help children form healthy lifestyle habits and, furthermore, grow into healthy adults," and requested active interest and participation.
