Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) carried out a large-scale environmental cleanup activity centered around Ssangmun Station and the shopping district on July 24.

From early morning that day, Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, along with the Chang 1-dong Residents' Center professional organizations, community leaders, and about 100 local residents, swept through major roads, side streets near Ssangmun Station, and areas vulnerable to illegal dumping in the shopping district, carefully inspecting every corner of the neighborhood for any neglected hazards or inconveniences.

Especially with the rainy season approaching, they inspected major drainage facilities such as storm drains to prevent backflow caused by fallen leaves, cigarette butts, and trash, and removed sediment inside the drains.

This environmental cleanup activity was promoted as part of the district’s ongoing “Clean Dobong Big Cleanup Day.” “Clean Dobong Big Cleanup Day” is held every fourth Wednesday of the month, during which employees and residents simultaneously clean the entire Dobong-gu area.

Mr. Choi ○○ (Chang 1-dong, 68 years old), who participated in the big cleanup, said, “Cleaning together with neighbors feels very meaningful as it helps me contribute as a member of society,” and added, “I want to continue actively participating to help create a clean neighborhood.”

On the same day, 13 other neighborhoods besides Chang 1-dong divided individual cleaning zones and conducted big cleanups. Employees and residents maintained the environment around major roads and storm drains and collected illegally dumped trash.

Oh Eon-seok, mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I thank the residents who voluntarily participated in the big cleanup despite the hot weather,” and added, “We will do our best to maintain the local environment so that residents can safely spend the summer in a clean environment.”
