Pohang Mayor Lee Kangdeok visited the Pohang Baseball Stadium, where the 58th Presidential National High School Baseball Tournament is being held, on the 26th to encourage tournament officials and teams.

View original imageOn this day, Mayor Lee met with tournament officials who are working hard to ensure the smooth operation of this prestigious competition, which is being held in Pohang for the first time ever in the Daegu-Gyeongsang region, and emphasized the importance of safe tournament management.
He also offered words of encouragement to professional baseball scouts visiting Pohang Baseball Stadium to discover promising talents, and greeted the teams from Andong Yale Meditech High School and Pyeongtaek Cheongdam High School, who played their first match that day.
The city expects that during the tournament, more than 4,500 people including teams, their families, and officials will visit Pohang, boosting the local economy by using accommodations, restaurants, and tourist attractions. The city is committed to supporting the successful hosting of the tournament and strengthening its competitiveness as a sports city.
Mayor Lee said, "I am very pleased that the nation's top high school baseball teams, participating in this tournament with a long history and tradition, are playing in Pohang. Pohang City and all tournament officials are doing their utmost to ensure a safe event, so I hope the players will focus solely on showcasing their skills to the fullest."
The 58th Presidential National High School Baseball Tournament completed its round of 16 matches by the 26th. Once the quarterfinals are set starting July 30, every game will be broadcast live on TV. The final is scheduled for August 3, with free admission to all matches and free distribution of tournament booklets.
