At a briefing session on the 25th with the Gyeonggi Provincial Climate Environment and Energy Bureau, Vice Chairman Yoo asserted, "Instead of broad and vague climate crisis response goals, feasible measures should be established, and circular economy policies such as those addressing household waste in response to the development of the companion animal industry should be expanded."
Vice Chairman Yoo first pointed out, "The feasibility of Gyeonggi Province's RE100 policy goals has been continuously questioned, and there is doubt about how much of the idle land for public RE100 implementation has been fully equipped with solar power."
According to Gyeonggi Province, public RE100 has currently achieved 30% this year and is expected to reach 100% by 2026. Also, there has been no utilization of shared sites in cities and counties yet.
Vice Chairman Yoo added, "Climate crisis response policies should not be superficial with broad and vague goals, but please keep in mind that establishing and implementing concrete and feasible goals is more efficient in mitigating the climate crisis."
Regarding companion animal policies, Vice Chairman Yoo emphasized, "Currently, the population raising companion animals in South Korea reaches about 15 million, which is 30% of the total population, and the companion animal industry market is rapidly growing, so resource circulation policies to respond to this are required."
