49,160 Eel Fry Released into Asanho and Sapgyoho Lakes
Asan City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 26th that it released 49,160 juvenile eels into Asanho and Sapgyoho lakes to increase fishery resources and restore the inland aquatic ecosystem.
This event, held on the 22nd and 24th at the Gungpyeong-ri ferry dock in Seonjang-myeon and the Ssaljogae Island dock in Changyong-ri, Yeongin-myeon, was organized to overcome changes such as the destruction of fish habitats and the decrease of native fishery resources due to deteriorating water quality caused by climate change and the inflow of household waste into public waters.
The city also plans to release about 340,000 juvenile crabs into Sapgyoho Lake on the 30th.
A city official stated, "We will continuously monitor and manage the released juveniles so they can adapt and thrive in the natural ecosystem," adding, "We plan to steadily continue the release project to further increase the fishery resources of Asanho and Sapgyoho lakes."
