Cuchen Announces Survey Results on Multigrain Rice
Mixed Multigrain Rice with Various Grains Most Preferred
Three out of four Koreans in the 20-60 age group were found to eat multigrain rice.
Cuchen announced the results of a survey on ‘Multigrain Rice Consumption Patterns and Preferences’ including this information on the 25th. The survey was conducted on 1,132 consumers aged 20 to 60.
75.4% of all respondents answered that they mainly eat multigrain rice. Specifically, 55% eat a mixture of white rice and multigrain rice, and 20.4% consume multigrain rice alone. By household size, the proportion of 3-4 person households eating multigrain rice was 54.8%, 1-2 person households were 41.3%, and households with 5 or more people were 3.9%.
Regarding the reasons for eating multigrain rice (multiple responses allowed), ‘for health management’ (27.9%) was ranked first. This was followed by ‘because it is rich in nutrients’ (26.4%). Other reasons included ‘for blood sugar management’ (12.2%), ‘because it tastes good’ (11.7%), ‘for dieting’ (9.5%), ‘because of family members’ (6.3%), and ‘to prevent aging’ (4.3%).
When asked how much they think multigrain rice consumption affects health, most answered ‘has a very positive effect’ (55.6%) or ‘has a positive effect’ (36.9%). The proportions of responses such as ‘neutral’ (5.6%), ‘don’t know’ (1.2%), and ‘has no effect’ (0.7%) were low.
Consumers who mainly eat multigrain rice preferred mixed multigrain rice made by mixing various grains (43.7%) the most. This was followed by black rice (25.6%), barley multigrain (11.8%), oat rice (7.6%), and millet rice (4.7%).
In addition, 92.3% of respondents answered that they cook multigrain rice at home, drawing attention. The top reason for cooking it themselves (multiple responses allowed) was ‘because of the perception that it is good for health’ (46.1%). Next were ‘because they can eat it with peace of mind’ (29.9%), ‘because it is cost-effective’ (12.1%), and ‘to reduce the use of disposable products’ (11.6%).
