Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial Promotion Agency Ranks Last in Project Evaluation... 'No Provincial Government Value Innovation Projects'
The Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial District Promotion Agency ranked last among 18 Gyeonggi-do funded and supported institutions in last year's management performance evaluation.
On the 16th, Gyeonggi-do announced the results of the 2023 management evaluation of public institutions and their heads based on performance, following deliberation and resolution by the Gyeonggi-do Funded and Supported Institutions Operation Review Committee.
This evaluation focused on innovative achievements reflecting provincial government values, efforts in innovative project implementation, RE100 achievement levels, and exemplary cases addressing population issues, emphasizing the social responsibility of public institutions.
Among the five grades from A to E, seven institutions received a B grade, and eleven institutions received a C grade. No institutions were rated A, D, or E.
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency received the highest evaluation for implementing 27 innovative projects including the establishment of the Gyeonggi-do-type G-Fund and promoting ‘paperless administration.’ Conversely, among the eleven institutions rated C, the Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial District Promotion Agency received a poor evaluation in the major business performance category.
Four institutions experienced grade changes compared to the previous year: the Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Education Promotion Agency and Gyeonggi Content Agency improved from C to B, while the Gyeonggi Arts Center dropped one grade from B to C.
Gyeonggi-do also conducted evaluations of current and former heads of 24 funded and supported institutions. In this evaluation, six heads, including the head of the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute, received a B grade. Ten heads, including those of the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural and Fisheries Promotion Agency and Gyeonggi Arts Center, received a C grade, and two heads, of the Korea Ceramic Foundation and Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial District Promotion Agency, received a D grade.
Evaluation results for the presidents of four local public corporations, including Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, as well as the heads of Gyeonggi Social Service Center and Gyeonggi Medical Center, will be finalized by reflecting evaluations from central government ministries such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Based on this evaluation, Gyeonggi-do plans to take follow-up measures such as warnings for institution heads rated D or below and will assess the implementation of institution-specific management improvement tasks assigned through the evaluation next year.
Previously, Gyeonggi-do formed a management evaluation team of 29 private experts, including professors and accountants, to conduct the institution evaluations. From March to June, they conducted document reviews and on-site evaluations to assess the management performance of 18 Gyeonggi-do funded and supported institutions for the previous year.
