Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 22nd that the Sacheon Senior Club has been selected as an excellent performing institution in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's '2024 Senior Job Creation and Social Activity Support Project.'
The Ministry of Health and Welfare selects outstanding institutions every year and awards prize money to encourage participation from local governments and institutions involved in senior job creation. This year, a total of 200 institutions were selected as outstanding performers.
The Sacheon Senior Club was chosen as an outstanding single-type institution after receiving high marks for operational appropriateness and performance evaluation among over 1,300 institutions nationwide. The club will receive a prize of 5 million KRW.
This year, the Sacheon Senior Club operated a total of 18 business groups, including five market-type groups such as running a gallery cafe and cultivating air-purifying plants, as well as public interest groups and social service groups utilizing the experience and abilities of seniors.
As a result, they created 1,535 senior job opportunities and helped promote active lifestyles for the elderly, setting an exemplary case for other local governments.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "We will promote various projects and provide generous support to ensure a healthy and happy life for seniors," adding, "We will actively discover and implement customized senior job projects tailored to Sacheon City."
