Government Expands 'Dream Arts Troupe' to Include Performing Arts Sector
'Dream Theater' Launches... Lee Soon-jae, Jeon Mi-do, and Others Appointed as Ambassadors
The government will expand the cultural and arts education brand for children and adolescents, 'Kkum-ui Yesuldan' (Dream Arts Troupe), into the field of performing arts.
On the 16th, Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, announced the launch of 'Kkum-ui Geukdan' (Dream Theater Company) and appointed promotional ambassadors at Sowol Art Hall in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. This organization was established to expand the genres of 'Kkum-ui Yesuldan,' which consists of 'Kkum-ui Orchestra' and 'Kkum-ui Dance Troupe,' into theater, musicals, changgeuk (traditional Korean opera), and more. Through a pilot project this year, various educational models will be developed, and full-scale operations will begin next year. A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official stated, "We plan to support children and adolescents nationwide to broadly experience various performing arts fields and nurture their dreams."
The promotional ambassadors appointed to support the activities of the arts troupe members include actors Lee Soon-jae, Choi Jung-won, Jeon Mi-do, director Ko Seon-ung, music director Kim Moon-jung, National Changgeuk Company actors Kim Jun-su and Kim Su-in, and nine individuals (teams) such as theater companies 'Yeohaengja' (Traveler), 'Gongsang Jipdan Ddungttanji' (Imaginative Group Ddungttanji), and 'Jeulgeoun Saramdeul' (Joyful People). They will carry out various activities such as expert classes (masterclasses), stage arts workshops, and collaborative creation projects targeting children and adolescents across the country.

Minister Yoo met with these individuals and other members of the Dream Arts Troupe to listen to their opinions on cultural and arts education and discuss policy directions. He said, "We will steadily expand the Dream Arts Troupe project so that more children can receive high-quality arts education," and added, "In early next month, right after the Daegwallyeong Music Festival, we will hold a 'Dream Arts Troupe Joint Camp' to provide a venue for troupe members to interact and harmonize with each other."
