Fair Trade Commission Files Criminal Complaint Against Gwangam Construction for Ignoring Subcontract Payment Order
Repeated Noncompliance with Payment Order Enforcement
The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 16th that it has decided to file charges with the prosecution against Gwangam Construction Corporation and its representative for failing to pay subcontracting fees despite receiving a payment order.
Last April, the Fair Trade Commission imposed a payment order on Gwangam Construction to pay 43.7 million KRW in unpaid subcontracting fees for zinc and insulation panel work during the construction of the Ungcheon Chasta Tower, along with approximately 7.23 million KRW in delayed interest.
However, despite receiving the payment order for construction subcontracting fees from the Fair Trade Commission and two subsequent enforcement reminder letters, Gwangam Construction has yet to comply with the corrective order. The representative of Gwangam Construction, who is responsible for executing the order on behalf of the corporation, failed to exercise due care and supervision.
