Trump's presidential campaign issued a press release on the same day, stating, "As the Republican Party proceeds with the convention to nominate former President Trump as the presidential candidate, former President Trump looks forward to being with you (supporters) in Milwaukee."
The campaign added, "Our party's presidential nominee, former President Trump, will continue to share his vision to make America great again with you."
Earlier, former President Trump was suddenly shot multiple times while campaigning in Butler, Pennsylvania, in the afternoon. A bullet passed through the upper part of Trump's right ear, causing an injury.
The Secret Service agents protecting former President Trump officially announced that they shot and killed the suspect at the scene. One supporter watching the rally died at the scene, and two others were seriously injured.
