Dong-A University and Busan Gangseo Police Station Produce 'Digital Crime Prevention Campaign Documentary'
Department of Media and Communication Participates... Produces Three Documentaries
Busan Police Station Uses SNS and Police Intranet for Crime Prevention
Dong-A University (President Lee Haeu) announced on the 12th that the Department of Media and Communication and the Busan Gangseo Police Station have collaborated to produce a documentary for a 'Digital Crime Prevention Campaign'.
This semester-long project involved fourth-year students from the Department of Media and Communication (Executive Producers: Kim Seungchae, Seo Yesol, Song Min, Sung Yujin, Lee Wusol, Seo Jisan), who took the Digital Content Production Seminar (Instructor: Kwon Youngseong), along with officials from the Busan Gangseo Police Station.
The Department of Media and Communication at Dong-A University and the Busan Gangseo Police Station produced a total of three documentaries, which will be distributed through the SNS channels and police intranet managed by the Busan Police Station, and used for digital crime prevention activities.
Song Min and Sung Yujin, who served as executive producers, said, "It was a meaningful experience to participate in raising public awareness about the crime known as 'romance scam' and its seriousness," adding, "We hope our documentary will serve as a wake-up call for many people to realize that fraud crimes are diverse and meticulously planned."
Lee Wusol and Seo Jisan added, "It was a very grateful experience to be able to collaborate with the police station and create a video for the public good as students."
Kim Seungchae and Seo Yesol also commented, "We are very proud to have produced a documentary on the topic of smishing prevention based on what we learned in our major," and continued, "Our documentary may be a small beginning, but we feel rewarded to contribute to society. We especially hope that through this documentary, people of all ages will become aware of the dangers of smishing and learn how to prevent it."
Woo Hyejin, the team leader at the Busan Gangseo Police Station in charge of the collaboration, expressed gratitude, saying, "We thank the professors and students of Dong-A University's Department of Media and Communication for making easy-to-understand videos about digital crime prevention methods and types of social crimes that can happen to anyone," and added, "We hope this video will help many people prevent becoming victims."

Kwon Youngseong, the professor who supervised the production, said, "I am pleased that students from the Department of Media and Communication were able to use the skills they have honed for social contribution activities," and added, "The collaboration with the Busan Gangseo Police Station led to great results, and I hope we can continue to work together to help prevent crime in the local community."
