Naju-si Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Disaster Management Evaluation by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
Naju City in Jeollanam-do was selected as an excellent institution in the disaster management evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing an institutional commendation along with a special grant of 88 million KRW.
According to the city on the 12th, the disaster management evaluation, conducted annually since 2015, is a comprehensive assessment diagnosing the key capabilities of 332 disaster management responsible institutions nationwide (central government ministries, public institutions, local governments) at each stage (prevention, preparedness, response, recovery).
This year's evaluation was conducted from January to April based on last year's performance.

The city received balanced evaluations across five areas: common, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
In particular, it was rated highly for strengthening safety management for vulnerable groups, disaster management fund administration, expanding financial investment in disaster safety fields, response systems for disaster situation management, preemptive systems for natural disaster preparedness, safety education and cultural campaign achievements, and the disaster situation response capabilities of the head of the institution.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae stated, “Protecting the lives and safety of citizens is the top priority of administration, and we are making every effort to prepare for disasters and various accidents,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create a safer and happier Naju by establishing a systematic disaster management and response system.”
Meanwhile, the special grant received will be used for disaster prevention projects.
