The location where the body was found is about 2.7 km away from where A went missing. The police are verifying the identity of the body but stated that it is still difficult to confirm the identity precisely. The police and fire department deployed 125 personnel (76 police officers and 49 firefighters) along with 24 pieces of equipment including drones and search dogs starting from 9 a.m. for the search. Earlier, A, a medical student from the province, had come to a pension in Geumma-myeon, Iksan-si for MT and was drinking when he said, "I’ll just go to the convenience store for a moment," and went outside. After that, contact was lost. It was confirmed that his cellphone was turned off about three hours after he left the pension, near Geumma Intersection. At that time, heavy rain of 60 to 80 mm per hour was falling in Geumma-myeon, Iksan. Water was overflowing in the drainage channels near the pension.
At around 10:56 a.m. on the 10th, students who had been drinking and then woke up reported, "We came to Iksan for a trip, but one person is missing," and "He went out after drinking, but his phone is off." Upon receiving the report, the police and fire authorities launched a large-scale search operation but failed to find A.
