AI Revolution: Improving Classroom Instruction and Enhancing Teacher Competence
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the "AI-based English Class Project Workshop" at 4 p.m. on the 15th, utilizing the online platform ZOOM. The workshop will target approximately 140 participants, including leading teachers from 10 schools operating AI-based English class projects in middle and high schools, as well as secondary teachers interested in AI-powered English classes.
This workshop aims to reflect on the future and prospects of English education in light of the rapid development of generative AI, and to promote classroom innovation and teacher competency enhancement in the era of the AI revolution.
The workshop will begin with a keynote lecture by Professor Jung Yeonju from the Department of English Education at Pusan National University, on the topic of "Trends and Prospects of AI-based English Education."
Next, Son Jiseon, a teacher from Seoul Yangseo Middle School, will present on "Creating Teaching Materials Using Artificial Intelligence," sharing cases of utilizing ChatGPT, Suno (a music-generating AI), and MS Copilot (an AI chatbot) to create class materials.
Lee Eunju, a teacher from Seoul Oryu Middle School, will introduce examples of developing generative AI-based teaching materials and utilizing them in classes and assessments, reflecting the 2022 revised curriculum.

Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "The year 2025 marks a major transformation in public education, with the introduction of the 2022 revised curriculum and AI digital textbooks." He added, "The city education office will spare no effort in providing tailored support to strengthen the competencies of teachers who will lead digital-based classroom innovation during this period of great change."
