Seoul City Council Floor Leader Lee Seong-bae of the People Power Party and Mayor Oh Se-hoon Express Support for Gwanghwamun Square National Symbol Space Development Plan
On the 11th at 10:30 a.m., Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced a plan to create a national symbolic space at Gwanghwamun Square that fully reflects the diverse opinions of citizens.
In this regard, the People Power Party Seoul Metropolitan Council (Floor Leader Lee Seong-bae) commented that they hope Gwanghwamun Square, the landmark of Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, will be reborn as a national symbolic space that enhances the pride of our people by adding national identity along with its historical and cultural symbolism.
They also added that they hope it will be established as a space that remembers the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs who made the current Republic of Korea possible and the dedication of veterans from various countries around the world who fought together to protect the values of liberal democracy.
In particular, they welcomed Mayor Oh’s announcement today of the policy to promote the creation of the national symbolic space through procedures and public discussions that fully reflect the opinions of citizens and experts.
