Dong-A University Master's Student Hana Sun Wins 'Outstanding Paper Presentation Award' from the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers
Presentation on Lithium-Ion Battery Anode Materials Research
Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on the 11th that Seon Hana, a master's student in the Department of Energy and Resources Engineering (advisor: Cha Jongmoon), received the Outstanding Paper Presentation Award at the '122nd Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers 2024'.
Founded in 1961, the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers is a specialized academic organization in the resources field for academic exchanges related to domestic and international energy and mineral resource investigation, exploration, development, and utilization. It publishes the domestic journal 'Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers' and the international journal 'Geosystem Engineering'.
Seon received the award in the 'Applied Geology and Environmental Geochemistry' session at the conference held recently at Sono Calm Yeosu, for her research titled 'A Study on the Phase Transformation of Silicon Nitride According to Milling and Heat Treatment Time'.
This research mainly focused on addressing the volume expansion of silicon anodes by reducing particle size through milling and heat treatment processes, generating titanium nitride (TiN), and improving the low electrical conductivity of silicon to compensate for the volume expansion issue.
Seon is conducting her research with support from the 'Greenhouse Gas Reduction Innovative Talent Development Project', a collaborative talent development project between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, as well as the 'Specialized Talent Development Project for Core Materials of Secondary Batteries for Energy Storage in Medium-sized Enterprises' by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
