Buyeo County Devastated by Water Bomb: Homes and Farms Suffer 15.2 Billion Won in Damages
64 Billion Won in Damages to Public Facilities, 88 Billion Won to Private Facilities
Buyeo County, Chungnam Province, announced on the 11th that the estimated damage to public and private facilities caused by the record-breaking heavy rain from the 8th to the 10th amounts to 15.2 billion KRW.
According to the county, damages to public facilities include: road facility damage such as six locations with road slope collapses and road washouts totaling 350 million KRW; 19 small-scale public facilities such as drainage washouts, village road damage, and small bridge collapses totaling 700 million KRW; 14 locations with local river and small stream embankment washouts totaling 1.7 billion KRW; six water management facilities totaling 2 billion KRW; and six cultural heritage sites totaling 670 million KRW, with the total damage to public facilities reaching 6.4 billion KRW.
In addition, damages to private facilities are estimated at 8.8 billion KRW, including: flooding of 27 households and 10 commercial stores totaling 110 million KRW; flooding of 1,464 hectares of crops across 728 farms totaling 7 billion KRW; livestock and aquaculture damage at seven farms totaling 560 million KRW; and 191 cases of forest damage such as landslides totaling 1 billion KRW.
