HD Hyundai Receives Presidential Citation at Population Day Ceremony
Implementation of Various Support Measures for Childbirth and Childcare
Recognized for Contributing to Overcoming Low Birthrate and Aging Population
HD Hyundai has been recognized for its efforts in fostering a family-friendly corporate culture.
On the 11th, HD Hyundai announced that it received the 'Presidential Citation' at the 13th Population Day ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The Presidential Citation is the highest honor among group awards.
Every year, the Ministry of Health and Welfare presents Population Day awards to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to overcoming low birth rates and addressing aging population issues. From May to July, awardees were selected through a public candidate verification process gathering opinions from the general public and a merit review committee involving private experts.
HD Hyundai received the Presidential Citation for exemplary efforts in creating a model work-life balance culture, including implementing various support measures related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, actively utilizing flexible work arrangements, and obtaining family-friendly company certifications across 13 affiliates.
HD Hyundai has consistently implemented family-friendly policies to alleviate the childcare burden on employees and address the low birth rate issue.
The company supports full remote work during early and late pregnancy stages and provides an additional one-month paid maternity leave beyond the statutory leave. It also operates the workplace daycare center 'Dream Boat,' where employees can safely leave their children until as late as 10 p.m. Furthermore, for employees with children aged 6 to 8, HD Hyundai offers a 'Childcare Leave' system of up to six months, separate from the statutory parental leave.
To further reduce employees' childcare burdens, HD Hyundai has expanded support for education and childcare expenses. Since last year, it has provided up to KRW 18 million over three years?KRW 6 million annually without limitation on the number of children?until children enter elementary school. Additionally, female employees receive congratulatory payments of KRW 5 million each for pregnancy and childbirth, totaling KRW 10 million.
Moreover, flexible work systems are applied across all affiliates, allowing employees to freely adjust their commuting hours to assist with their children's kindergarten pick-up and drop-off. To promote work-life balance, PCs automatically shut down 10 minutes after the end of individually set working hours.
In recognition of these efforts, 13 major affiliates within the group, including HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD Hyundai Site Solutions, and HD Hyundai Oilbank, have obtained 'Family-Friendly Certification' from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
