The future unicorn company C-STAR stands for 'a promising company that can become a star startup through opportunities (Chance) and network connections (Connect) to challenge (Challenge) at the center (Center) of Cheonan.'
The recruitment for C-STAR 2nd cohort is open until the 22nd, and any startup located in Cheonan that was established within the past seven years is eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the city’s official website, and about five companies will be selected through document screening and in-person evaluation.
The selected companies will receive support such as recommendations to accelerator companies (AC) and venture capital (VC) investors, opportunities to participate in expos, and assistance in pioneering overseas markets.
The first cohort of C-STAR, previously selected, has achieved visible results thanks to Cheonan City's active support.
The city selected eight companies for the first C-STAR cohort and provided tailored support, resulting in achievements such as attracting investment and growth as innovative procurement products.
For example, 'WeRobotics', which develops wearable walking-assist robots, attracted investments totaling 13 billion KRW from six investors. 'Watervation', which invented filterless air purification technology, was selected as an innovative procurement product by the Public Procurement Service and won the grand prize at the World Women's Invention Award by the Korean Intellectual Property Office. In addition, 'Incle', which develops industrial big data processing engines, established a monitoring engine for companies affiliated with the Northern Chungnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mayor Park Sangdon said, "The selection of C-STAR plays a significant role in creating successful cases in a short period of time and establishing a virtuous startup ecosystem through selection and concentration," and added, "We hope for the active interest and participation of startups with high growth potential."
