Pyeongtaek City Wins 'Regional Development' Award at the 'Local Autonomy Management Awards'

Evaluation of Green Space Expansion and Hydrogen Complex Base
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 10th that it received the Grand Prize for Regional Development at the '29th Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards' hosted by the Korea Institute of Public Administration on the 9th.
This award has been given since its establishment in 1996 to local governments that have shown outstanding achievements in various fields. The award is based on a first-stage quantitative evaluation, a second-stage qualitative evaluation, and resident satisfaction survey results conducted by a professional research institute.
Pyeongtaek City explained that it received the award due to high evaluations for urban environment improvements and securing future growth engines, including ▲expansion of green spaces through urban forests and parks ▲urban regeneration projects in old downtown areas for balanced development ▲selection as a national advanced strategic industry semiconductor specialized complex ▲selection as a future-type complex transfer center ▲operation of Pyeongtaek Port hydrogen transportation complex base ▲attraction of the future car electronic parts integrated performance evaluation center ▲development of Pyeongtaekho tourist complex.
Additionally, the background for receiving the award includes illegal advertising cleanup and nighttime landscape creation projects, urban aesthetics improvement projects such as themed murals reflecting regional characteristics, village community support projects, and alleyway commercial district revitalization support projects.
Meanwhile, with this award, Pyeongtaek City has received a total of eight grand prizes at the Local Autonomy Awards, including the comprehensive grand prize in 2018.
