Eight Illegal Activities Detected at Goat Meat Establishments in Chungnam Province
Selling with False Country of Origin, Sales Without Reporting, etc.
Numerous illegal activities, such as mislabeling the origin of goat meat, have been uncovered in Chungnam.
The Provincial Civil Affairs Police Team announced on the 10th that, as a result of a special crackdown on 302 establishments handling goat meat from the 3rd to the 28th of last month, eight cases of illegal activities were detected.
Establishment A manufactured and sold goat extract without registering as an instant food manufacturing and processing business, while Establishment B sold goat meat by misrepresenting its origin.
Additionally, three establishments violated the requirement to keep receipts or transaction statements indicating the origin of the meat for six months, and the remaining three were caught for failing to undergo health checkups.
Shin Dongheon, Director of the Provincial Autonomy and Safety Office, said, "We will continue to crack down on unregistered businesses and false labeling of origin, which are vulnerable areas in livestock product safety," adding, "We will create a distribution and sales environment for livestock products where consumers can feel safe."
