Residents near landslide-prone areas have established an emergency contact network to enable quick evacuation in case of disasters. They are also informed of action guidelines during landslide occurrences through village broadcasts and village chief meetings.
This month, the county established its own landslide response plan to create a system capable of efficiently handling disaster situations.
The county plans to complete the construction of check dams and stream conservation projects within this month to further enhance landslide prevention effects.
A county official said, “When a landslide forecast is issued, evacuation messages are immediately sent to residents in vulnerable areas. We ask people to refrain from going out during heavy rain and to pay close attention to safety messages and village broadcasts.”
Meanwhile, the county is also working to prevent damage to forest products caused by heavy rains.
There are a total of 149 registered forestry management households in the Jangseong area, and the county plans to continuously promote damage prevention methods and reporting procedures until next month, when the rainy season continues.
