Busan Port Authority Completes Risk Assessment of Workplaces Within Port Area
Busan Port Authority (BPA) has completed a risk assessment for directly managed and subcontracted workplaces within its jurisdictional port areas from February to June 2024.
A risk assessment refers to the process of independently identifying hazardous and risk factors in the workplace and establishing and implementing improvement measures. It is emphasized as a key strategy for reducing industrial accidents according to the government's "Serious Accident Reduction Roadmap."
BPA carried out the risk assessment in a systematic manner, including the following steps: establishing an implementation plan, providing preliminary training for all employees, identifying hazardous and risk factors, determining the level of risk, establishing and implementing risk reduction measures, and conducting follow-up training.
BPA is striving to eliminate workplace safety accidents by involving workers in every stage of the risk assessment and conducting the assessment twice a year, in both the first and second half, including subcontracted operations.
Kang Junseok, President of BPA, stated, "Through this risk assessment, we identified a total of 454 hazardous and risk factors," and added, "We will not stop at merely identifying these factors but will continue to improve and manage them to create a safe workplace every day of the year."
