[Photo] Citizens Viewing the Excavation Site of Heungdeokjeon at Deoksugung Palace
On the 3rd, the Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Headquarters revealed the results of the excavation conducted at the Heungdeokjeon area within Deoksugung Palace to the public. The excavation team stated that by discovering the drainage system of Heungdeokjeon, the locations of the entrance gates Heungsamun and Soanmun were confirmed. Heungdeokjeon in Deoksugung Palace is estimated to have been built around 1900 and served as the relocation office to restore the royal portrait that was lost in the fire at Seonwonjeon, located to the east of Deoksugung.
