Mokpo City will also focus on the offshore wind power industry. By June next year, it plans to establish an offshore wind power convergence industrialization platform and create a support pier and cluster worth 150 billion KRW to revitalize offshore wind power.
Additionally, in 2025, an eco-friendly ship cluster will be completed at Namhang, and an ammonia ship demonstration center will be opened at the Daeyang Industrial Complex to promote the eco-friendly ship industry.
In particular, to further strengthen Mokpo’s future new growth engine industries, the city plans to build infrastructure such as the completion of the Western Maintenance Factory of the Korea Coast Guard and facilities for repairing high-speed engines of small and medium-sized ships.
Furthermore, large-scale social infrastructure will be expanded through the attraction of a national medical school at Mokpo National University, the construction of National Road No. 77, the Daebul Industrial Complex Bridge, and the establishment of next-generation transportation such as trams.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul said, “The past two years have been a time to steadily build Mokpo’s capabilities and gain great confidence,” adding, “We ask for much interest and support in Mokpo’s journey of development as we continue to pursue challenges and change.”
