Seoul National University Selected as Specialized Complex for Ministry of Industry's Bio National Advanced Strategy Project
Incheon-Siheung Metropolitan Linked Mega Bio Cluster
Seoul National University announced on the 29th that the 'Incheon·Gyeonggi Siheung Metropolitan-Linked Mega Bio Cluster' based on the Siheung campus has been selected as a specialized complex for the bio national advanced strategic industry by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
With this selection, it is expected that ultra-competitive technology and stable manufacturing capabilities of advanced industries will be secured amid global investment competition. In February, Seoul National University signed a 'Business Agreement for the Creation of Biotriplex Siheung and Attraction of National Advanced Specialized Complex' with Siheung City and has continued to cooperate with Siheung City to designate the bio specialized complex.
Based on world-class research infrastructure and talent development experience, Seoul National University plans to create an advanced bio-industry convergence research and development (R&D) complex and a full-cycle innovation ecosystem for startups in collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul National University Dental Hospital. Additionally, through cooperative synergy with Incheon, which has bio workforce training infrastructure such as Yonsei University and K-NIBRT, it aims to establish a metropolitan-linked mega bio cluster where industry, academia, research, hospitals, and government are concentrated.
