Also present were representatives from Busan Technopark, Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, and Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, all of whom will lead the ICT-based future mobility industry through this industry-academia-research collaboration.
The Dongmyung University and Silla University consortium, together with Busan Metropolitan City, will actively foster a collaborative ecosystem among companies, research institutes, and universities, and will focus on the successful operation of the specialized Future Mobility School. By nurturing talent tailored to the industrial demands of the ICT-based future mobility sector, the initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the development of Busan's industries.
President Jeon Ho-hwan emphasized that the participation of companies integrating ICT technology, eco-friendly future vehicle parts manufacturers, finished vehicle companies, and research and support institutions has formed a true alliance for industrial development and talent cultivation. He asserted that the Dongmyung University and Silla University consortium, through the operation of the Future Mobility School, will provide a strong foundation for Busan’s economic growth.
The agreement ceremony was held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the 2024 Busan Mobility Show. Renault Korea, one of the participating companies, unveiled the "Hybrid D SUV," the first model of its next-generation eco-friendly vehicle project "Aurora," for the first time at this exhibition. As demand for future vehicles is expected to increase exponentially, nurturing local talent is becoming increasingly important.
Within the Glocal University 30 initiative, the Dongmyung University and Silla University consortium plans to transform both university campuses into open innovation towns to foster local industry and nurture talent based on the demand for new future industries. The universities have selected future mobility and future well-life as their specialized fields and will drive university innovation accordingly.
